We have been meditating for hundreds of years, so there's no reason why the practice should fade away. The more someone meditates, the more likely they are to continue. They also become more likely to help the practice spread further.
Meditation will become increasingly popular in mainland Europe, just as it has in the UK and the United States.
It's also likely that meditation will continue to develop and will come to permeate our daily lives through informal meditation (mindful eating, mindful running etc.).
Finally, meditative practices are becoming increasingly widespread in the fields of physical and mental health and are the subject of a great deal of applied research. We're at the very dawn of research in neuroscience and psychology that will enable us to better understand the therapeutic benefits of meditation. The initial results are promising, which gives hope of exciting future discoveries.
