Your attention is a bit like a brain muscle. And meditation is a kind of gym for the brain. Meditation involves training your attention so that, on demand, you can achieve a mentally clear and calm state.

You can then employ this clarity of mind to be intensely present and to achieve better knowledge and control of yourself.

And with practice, you can create mental habits that expand your social consciousness, enabling you to achieve greater attentiveness, altruism, benevolence and well-being in the present moment.

As a result, your mind will become freer, more positive, balanced, centred, flexible and obedient. This makes it possible for you to concentrate and relax at will, so you can respond deliberately and thoughtfully rather than reacting blindly and automatically.
